The Baytown Technology & Engineering Complex (BTEC) is ExxonMobil Chemical's primary global research and development, technology and engineering center, located within the greater ExxonMobil Baytown complex on some 66 acres. BTEC is home to scientists, engineers and technicians who support ExxonMobil Chemical's product lines such as Olefins, which include ethylene and propylene; Aromatics, including toluene, xylene and paraxylene; Intermediates such as hydrocarbon and oxygenated fluids; and Polymers, such as polyethylene, polypropylene and elastomers and adhesion products.

ExxonMobil Chemical Films business is a global leader in the area of Oriented Polypropylene (OPP) films that are used in a wide range of flexible packaging and labeling applications. The Business and Research Center located in Macedon, NY houses pilot and semi-works facilities for both polymer processing and film coating that support research and product development engineers and scientists. In addition the site has the capability to test OPP Film in various end use applications and prove out new packaging designs and is supported by physical testing and coating development laboratories.
